What can you do....

Josh Hughes -- 12 October 2008

I'm not going to say I told you so, but.....OK fine I told you so!

You can't scrap your offense in the middle of the year. Much less the middle of the week. Arkansas should have been about as give me of a win as they come. The media circus that has been the firing of Tony Franklin could be the turning point that takes this season from bad to nightmare. The guy wasn't really getting the job done, but let's face it. His offense did crack the 200 yard mark in every game. That's not great, but without him the team is in a tail spin and the staff apparently is going to give someone else a shot at quarterback. Great now there are 3, maybe 4, in the running. Things couldn't get much more confusing for an offense that is more lost than the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. With games at WV, Miss, and Bama on the schedule and home games with UT-M, and UGA, Auburn is just looking to keep there heads above water. 1-4 through the finish line might just be a success.

Just my take.

Josh Hughes -- 6 October 2008

As my father watched the replay of the Auburn/Vandy game he noticed something that I too had picked up on during the original telecast. The more Auburn's offense struggled the more the defense seemed to get down on themselves.

I can't say that I blame them. When you consistently keep the opposing team out of the endzone, but your offense can't score either you are stuck in a stalemate. A lot of the guys on the defense seemed to be not giving up, but just giving a "here we again" attitude.

You can't scrap your offense in the middle of the year. I'm no coach, but I watch a lot of football. If the Tigers want to have a chance of winning any of there remaining games outside of Arkansas and UT-Martin they need to play Chris Todd and only Chris Todd. They need to run the majority of their plays from the I-formation and pray for the best.

On an unrelated note.... O.J. Simpson is finally going to jail! And the Cubs are back where they belong...at home in October.

Josh Hughes -- 1 August 2008

Welcome to the debut of the Eagle Eye Sports page. I hope you guys will check here first for all your Auburn sports breaking news. With football season fast approaching I know everyone is excited to see how the new spread offense will pan out against the stiff defenses in the SEC. Speaking of defense that side of the ball has a new coordinator as well. He did a superb job a Pitt, but how good will he be against the SEC? You can get a first look at the team by checking out the new sports video player on the right. Also let me know how you think about the Tigers chances this season by commenting on the blog and voting in the new sports poll in the bottom right. Be sure to check back this fall when sports on the plains heat up!
