IMPACT

Chris King -- 1 April 2009

Feeling lazy after spending spring break relaxing on the beach? Lindsay O'Neal had the opportunity to sit down with some people who spent their spring break giving back to the community.

If you would like a chance to get involved in more community activities by volunteering, you can go to IMPACT's web site, and be sure to watch Lindsay's story this week on Eagle Eye News.

Domestic Violence - Chris Brown and Rihanna

Chris King -- 13 March 2009

Redirecting...Please Wait.........

It seems that everyone has chimed in on the Chris Brown and Rihanna saga over the past few weeks, from the tabloid shows exploiting the story to Ellen confronting Diddy (or Puff Daddy or whatever he's calling himself this week) about it to Tyra Banks (who of course found a way to make it about her) and even Oprah! Now, usually I like to keep my celebrity news separate from my hard hitting news, but I can see how this could be a legitimate story, not because of the celebrity factor, but because it is about domestic violence, something that effects us all. This week Bianca Harris, Cassidy Caukin, and LaTosha Ross got Auburn students' opinions on the issue.

Oprah devoted a full live show to the topic yesterday. It's something we all know already: domestic violence is never ok. Whether it is emotional, verbal, or physical abuse, it should not happen. But it does. And when it happens to someone close to us, we say it's just a one time thing. But, chances are, it's not. If it happens once, it will happen again. Ant guys are not the only abusers. This week, one of the "Real Housewives" of some city or another was arrested for assaulting her boyfriend! We need to take this opportunity to educate ourselves and everyone we know about the dangers of domestic violence.

If you are in an abusive relationship and need help or if you would just like to know more about domestic violence, you can visit the Safe Habor page on Auburn University's Web site.

Spring Break Fitness

Chris King -- 4 March 2009

Spring break is less than two weeks away! I've been counting down the days since about the second week of school. The time has actually passed pretty quickly, and I'm glad we have a relatively early spring break.

With the much needed vacation fast approaching, we've had several stories about getting ready for it - from tanning to the government's warning to students about going to Mexico. But, possibly the most important to most college students, is getting their bodies beach ready.

There is not much time left to get ready for spring break, but if fitness is important to you year round, you might be interested in joining a gym. Be sure to check out Cassidy Caukin's report on spring break fitness and gyms in Auburn on this week's Eagle Eye News.

And if you are interested in joining a local gym, here are some links to their websites and class schedules:
